I’m absolutely ecstatic to announce that in under two weeks, we’ll be back at Everyman Cinema in Leeds holding the 6th edition of All Day Hey!, a single-track conference started back in 2017 for developers and designers.
After two years of running the conference remotely via stream-only, I admit I was somewhat nervous putting an IRL conference out there, especially with the venue being so large and the impact of COVID having significantly increased costs. The response, however, has been overwhelming!
One of my values of Hey! Presents have always been to create a safe space for people to learn and socialise, and this year is no different. I’ve gone above and beyond to ensure everyone entering the venue feels as comfortable as possible, with additional steps for people to signal how they want to interact with one another. I am hugely grateful for people entrusting me with their hard-earned cash and time to attend the event and make the day what it is.
On 5th May, the doors will open to over 200 in-person attendees and many more from around the globe. The single-track schedule includes talks from Emily Cressey from Sketch, Jhey Tompkins from Google, Cassidy Williams from Remote, Andy Bell from Set Studio and Stephanie Stimac from Microsoft. I had a lot of fun putting the line-up together this year, balancing the technical takeaways with the usual dose of creativity and thought provocation. Our esteemed anchor for the day, Phil, is back with his usual flair and wit to help keep things flowing.
I’ve also partnered with some fantastic sponsors this year to help improve the production level we can bring to those watching at home. Along with putting some sponsorship in myself, I’m joined by IMA-HOME, zeroheight and Netlify. I’m grateful for the support, financially and with promotion and advice, to deliver the best possible event.
I’m also super excited to be hosting the after-party in the Headrow House Beer Hall. We have exclusive hire of the venue, and my friend Hannah Marion (from Leeds based female DJ collective We Are Fierce) will be delivering the music well into the evening.
I always enjoy the post-conference wind-down. Everyone is buzzing about the day’s topics and keen to share stories and what they’re working on. It’s one of the reasons I started the Hey! Presents events based on values built upon inclusivity, safety, approachability and sharing experiences.
There are still a handful of tickets left, so head over to the site to see the full schedule, speaker line-up and further information. Hopefully, I’ll see you there!
